Invitation to the wedding of Yitzchak Tzvi Sofer ben Hagaon Harav Avraham Yaakov Sofer, Av Beis Din of Tet .
On the verso of the invitation is a handwritten letter by Harav Avraham Yaakov Sofer to his nephew Harav Simcha Bunim Dovid Sofer (author of Itur Sofrim). In the margin, the bridegroom Rav Yitzchak Tzvi appeals to his cousin to pray for him and his future wife .
Hagaon Harav Avraham Yaakov Sofer Hy”d (1878-1944) was the eldest grandson of the Yalkut Eliezer. Orphaned at a young age, he was raised by his grandfather who imbued him with wisdom and outstanding character traits. He later studied under the Shevet Sofer in Pressburg. Harav Avraham Yaakov Sofer was murdered in Auschwitz. Some of his writings were printed in sefer Zichron Efraim.
The bride was the daughter of Harav Yosef Eliezer Miller Hy”d, dayan of Shofran. Tragically, all the individuals listed on the wedding invitation—including the bride, groom and their parents—perished in Auschwitz in 1944, may Hashem avenge their blood.
The wedding took place in Shafran on Chanukah, 1938.
