This halachic responsa regards giving maaser money to an interest-earning fund and then distributing the dividends annually to the poor.
Hagaon Harav Yosef Leib Sofer, Av Beis Din of Dratshke and Faks (1861-1918) was the son of Harav Eliezer Zussman Sofer, Av Beis Din of Faks and author of Yalkut Eliezer. One of the leading Hungarian sages of his times, he was a disciple of his venerable father and Harav Moshe Halevi Pollack, Av Beis Din of Bonyhad. In 1885, he was crowned Av Beis Din of Dratschke, and in 1903, succeeded his father as Rav of Faks. His famous works include the 2-volume Likutei Sofer on Mitzvos and 5-volume Yalkut Sofer on the Torah.
