Responsa from Hagaon Harav Shmuel Levi Weinberger, Regarding Using Maaser to Open an Interest-Incurring Charity Fund, Serdeheil, 1912.
This halachic responsa regards investing maaser money in an interest-earning fund and then distributing the dividends annually to the needy.
Hagaon Harav Shmuel Levi Weinberger, Av Beis Din of Serdeheil (1860-1925) was the son of Harav Pinchas Weinberger, the author of Shu”t Maharaf Shusburg, and son-in-law of Harav Hillel Lesh of Kolomiya. He studied under his uncle Harav Yehoshua Aharon Tzvi Weinberger, Av Beis Din of Margereten, and received semichah from the Yitav Lev. He also served as Av Beis Din in Kerestir, Nigerest, and Bania. The vast majority of his writings and responsa were lost in the Holocaust.
