These writings contain halachic responsa to two questions posed to Harav Meir Arik of Tarnów:
The first regards purchasing bread on occasion from a Jewish baker who bakes bread on Shabbos.
The second question regards reciting Havdalah on ‘Zada-Wasser’ (seltzer).
Hagaon Harav Meir Arik (1855-1926) succeeded the Maharsham as the primary posek in Galicia. He received semichah from the Maharsham and was a Chortkover chassid. He passed away in his succah after reciting Kiddush on the first night of Succos, 5686. His famous writings include Shu”t Imrei Yosher and Tal Torah.
Harav Meir Arik was revered by contemporary Rabbanim and tzaddikim who crowned him with illustrious titles as ‘Sar HaTorah’ (Harav Meir Shapiro), ‘Ner Yisrael Pe’er Hagadol’ (Kedushas Tzion of Bobov), ‘Chassida U’Prisha’ (Harav Menachem Zemba), and ‘Peer Hayamim, Chemdas Hazemanim’ (Divrei Yoel of Satmar).
