Harav Tzvi Hirsch of Kotzk was the great-grandfather of the Gerrer Rebbe shlit”a.
Harav Tzvi Hirsch Morgenstern of Łomazy-Kotzk (1852-1926) was a grandson of Harav Menachem Mendel of Kotzk and recalled his venerable grandfather from his early childhood years. At the age of 22, he was crowned Rebbe, succeeding his father Harav Dovid of Kotzk. He was renowned for his sharp, pithy statements that were characteristic of the Kotzk dynasty.
