The Maggid of Kozhnitz was a brilliant sage and scholar renowned for his genius and sharp, inquisitive mind. He was a disciple of the Rebbe Harav Shmelke of Nikolsburg. Among his famous works are Beis Yisrael on Tractate Brachos, Moed and more. The present page was printed in the Maggid’s sefer Beis Yisrael (Warsaw, 1876).
The Holy Kozhnitzer Maggid Harav Yisrael Hopstein (1733-1815) was one of the forefathers of Chassidus, a genius in the Revealed and Hidden Torah, and miracle worker who generated salvations for thousands. He was born following a blessing that the Baal Shem Tov delivered to his parents along with instructions that they name the child ‘Yisrael.’ His spiritual greatness was evident from his early youth, and the Baal Shem Tov once appeared to him in a dream.

This handwritten leaf is preserved in a silver frame artistically applied on wood by a master silversmith to complement this collectible.

The bottom of the frame features an impressive engraving of the Maggid sitting at his desk, along with flowers, leaves, vases and lions. A list of the Kozhnitzer’s sefarim are engraved on both sides of the frame.
