“I pray that you be redeemed with everlasting offspring in a good and successful time, and that the born child be healthy and strong.

May you merit to see a righteous generation stem from him…

May you be remembered for good and blessing before the Master of all, and may he be written and sealed for a year of life, peace, blessing and success in all of his endeavors…”


Letter from the Chofetz Chaim written at the advanced age of ninety years, approximately one month after the Palestinian riots of 1929.

At the end of the letter, the Chofetz Chaim signs off in a shaky hand:

"המברכו בכל טוב ישראל מאיר הכהן"

This letter was sent to Rabbi David Potash who shared a close bond with the Chofetz Chaim. He helped many Torah scholars immigrate to Eretz Yisrael.

Dated the 28th of Elul, 1929.

The bottom of the page contains a personal letter from Rabbi Hillel Ginzberg, step son-in-law of the Chofetz Chaim and his right-hand man.
