Manuscript of Rabbi David Friedman’s sefer Yad David, handwritten by his faithful assistant, Rabbi Shmuel Noach Gottleib.

The manuscript also includes several marginal notes, additions and corrections handwritten by Rabbi David Karliner himself.

Rabbi David Friedman (1828-1915) of Karlin was a brilliant and holy Torah scholar and was titled “gadol hador” by the leaders of his time. He served as rabbi of Karlin, where Jews would flock to him with halachic questions, and he was looked upon as a foremost halachic authority. He authored Piskei Halachos Yad David, consisting of three parts, and Responsa She’eilas David.
