Complete volume of homilies and articles handwritten by Rabbi Yirmiyahu Loewe, ab”d of Újhely and author of Divrei Yirmiya.
This treatise includes fifty homilies regarding Rosh Hashana, Shabbos Shuva, Sukkos and Chanuka, along with various other articles. At the beginning of many of the sermons, Rabbi Loewe noted the date and place in which it was written.
Rabbi Yirmiyahu Loewe (1811-1874) was a leading Hungarian rabbi and the ab”d of Ujhely. He was the son of Rabbi Binyanim Wolf Low, author of Sha’arei Torah, son of the Shemen Rokach. He studied primarily by his father. He served for a time as the ab”d of Magendorf and then as a rabbi in Werbau, and eventually became the ab”d of Ujhely. He did much to better the lives of Hungarian Jewry. He authored Divrei Yirmiyahu.
To the best of our knowledge, these homilies were never brought to print.
