In the Chasam Sofer’s family it was known and accepted that the handwriting of the Chasam sofer is a Segula for Shmira and protection.
Rabbi Shimon Sofer, rav of Krakow, would peruse a handwritten letter from his holy father before making important decisions in the the Austrian Parliament.
Rabbi Mordechai Banet said that just gazing at the handwriting of the Chasam Sofer is in itself a Segula for Yiras Shamayim .
Once when a Halachic response from the Chasam Sofer was sent to Rabbi Mordechai Banet, he studied it for some time. When those around him inquired if there was a problem, he replied that no, he was taking his time because just looking at the Chasam sofer’s handwriting is a Segula for Yiras Shamayim.
It is also known that the Satmar Rebbe- Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum would say that looking at the Chasam Sofer’s handwriting is a Segula for Yiras Shamayim.
Regarding the writing of his holy treatises, the Chassam Sofer writes: "As long as Hashem will grant me life and strength, I am ready to learn with whomever comes to listen… Behold I am writing in ink everything that G-d has bestowed upon me in both halachah and aggadah."
Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ehrenreich, ab”d of Shimlow, writes in Zichron L’Moshe: "All of his words and novellae in halachah and aggadah are replete with holiness and fear of Heaven and Chassidus…
