Autograph Letter from Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman Regarding the Importance of Absolute Adherence to the Rabbinical Leaders of Klal Yisrael
Rare and long handwritten and signed letter from Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman regarding the Torah perspective on Torah leaders leading the nation.
Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib writes:
“In the last generations… in many places they have begun to appoint leaders whose focal strength wasn’t Torah greatness and fear of G-d, and they select community activists instead of Torah leaders… And the concept of being subservient to the directives of Torah scholars, which was once obvious, needs to be restored and reinforced.”
This letter was written in place of an endorsement for sefer L’Sha’ah U’LeDoros.
Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman (1914-2017) was a leading Torah authority in the last generation whose influence crossed the spectrum of Torah Jewry. He served as the president of the Mo’etzes Gedolei HaTorah. He was heavily involved in opening and establishing yeshivos and kollelim in Eretz Yisrael. He was known for his righteousness and for his abstinence in materialistic matters.
Dated Bnei Brak, 1980.
