Autograph Letter of Endorsement from The Brisker Rov Rabbi Yitzchak Zev HaLevi Soloveitchik of Brisk
Written in the Final Year of His Life
Handwritten and signed endorsement from Rabbi Yitzchak Zev HaLevi Soloveitchik endorsing assistance for one of Jerusalem’s prestigious Torah scholars “who is very worthy of proper and substantial support to marry off his daughter.”
The letter was written on the 25th of Tishrei, 1959, less than a year prior to Rabbi Yitzchak Zev’s passing. During the final year of his life Rabbi Yitzchak Zev did not write much; letters from him dating back to this time are rare.
Rabbi Yitzchak Zev wrote this endorsement on a letter from the individual himself, appealing to the Ezras Torah organization in New York for assistance.
Rabbi Yitzchak Zev HaLevi Soloveichik (1886-1959) was one of the great Torah leaders during the Holocaust generation. He followed the path of his predecessors, Rabbi Chaim and the Beis HaLevi in disseminating Torah and fighting for traditional Judaism. He authored Chiddushei Maran Ri”z on Rambam and other sefarim.
