Letter from Rabbi Menachem Ziemba Regarding the Jewish Stand in the Polish Elections; Warsaw, 1928

Letter discussing the Jewish communities’ stand in the upcoming Polish elections, convening a meeting with the leaders of the Agudas Yisrael on the matter.

The letter is addressed to Rabbi Menachem Mendel, ab”d of Pabianice, son of the Sfas Emes, who served as a member of the Agudas Yisrael.

Written on an official letterhead from the Agudas Yisrael of Poland, it includes original signatures from Rabbi Menachem Ziemba of Prague and Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Biederman, son-in-law of the Sfas Emes and brother-in-law of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Pabianice.

Rabbi Menachem Ziemba (1883-1943) was a leading Polish gaon, known for his piety and greatness in Torah and Chassidus. He served as a member of the Mo’etzes Gedolei HaTorah. Rabbi Menachem Ziemba suffered terribly under the Nazis, escaping from one hideout to another. He devotedly cared for his fellow Jewish inmates in the Warsaw ghetto until his ultimate demise during the Warsaw Uprising on Pesach of 1943. He authored Totza’os Chaim and Zera Avraham among others.
