Autograph Letter of Advice from the Admor Rabbi Yisrael Alter of Gur, the “Beis Yisrael”

Handwritten and signed letter of advice from the Admor Rabbi Yisrael Alter of Gur, addressed to his relative.

In his letter, the Admor advises against immigrating to Eretz Yisrael due to security concerns. In tandem, he advises the recipient to avoid actions that may cause him to permanently settle outside of Eretz Yisrael, such as purchasing a home or investing in a large business.

Rabbi Yisrael Alter of Gur (1895-1977) was the son and successor of the Imrei Emes of Gur. He began serving as his father’s right hand in his youth and succeeded him in 1948. Rabbi Yisrael Alter lost his entire family in the Holocaust and reestablished the Ger Chassidus in Eretz Yisrael. There, he became a leading rabbinical figure and served as the President of the Mo’etzes Gedolei HaTorah. Thousands would flock to him for blessing and advice.
