“THE FINANCIAL SITUATION OF OUR YESHIVA IS SHOCKING”

Letter from the Admor Rabbi Shalom Yechezklel Shraga Rabin-Halberstam of Cheshinov; Tomaszów, 1938

Long, interesting letter from the Admor Rabbi Shalom Yechezkel Shraga Rabin-Halberstam of Cheshinov regarding the harsh financial situation facing Yeshivas Netzach Yisrael in Tomaszów, led by his father, the Admor Rabbi Aryeh Leib of Tomaszów.

At the beginning of the letter, Rabbi Rabin-Halberstam writes Torah novellae and praises sefer Machazeh Avraham, authored by Rabbi Avraham Shechter, the recipient’s father.

Rabbi Shalom Yechezkel Shraga Rabin-Halberstam of Cheshinov was the son of Rabbi Aryeh Leibush of Cheshinov, son of Yitzchak Tuvia Rabin, son-in-law of Rabbi Chaim of Sanz. He was a leading Torah scholar and would frequently exchange letters of Torah novellae with the leading rabbis of his generation. Following the Holocaust, Rabbi Rabin-Halberstam immigrated to the United States where he established the center for the Cheshinov Chassidus. Rabbi Rabin-Halberstam was the brother-in-law of Rabbi Shlomo of Bobov.

Dated Tomaszów, 1938.
