Bobov: Heartful Letter of Blessing from Admor Rabbi Bentzion Halberstam of Bobov; 1933

Letter of blessings signed by the Admor Rabbi Bentzion Halberstam of Bobov, addressed to Rabbi Yaakov Yisrael Schmerler, grandson of Rabbi Meir of Premishlan.

Rabbi Bentzion Halberstam warmly writes:
"Behold I bless him with a complete recovery and continued health, and may he merit from G-d much nachas from his descendants, and may the new year be renewed upon you for good and blessings and may his prayers be pleasing before the Master of all…"

Rabbi Bentzion Halberstam (1874-1941) was the son of Rabbi Shlomo Halberstam, grandson of Rabbi Chaim of Sanz. He was a leading Galician admor prior to World War II. He married the daughter of Rabbi Shalom Eliezer of Ratzfert, son of the Divrei Chaim, and lived with his father-in-law for half a year. Once he began leading as Admor, he reestablished his father’s yeshiva, raising a new generation of Chassidim. In 1932, he resettled in the city of Chebin. He was brutally murdered in the Holocaust.

Rabbi Yaakov Yisrael Schmerler was a descendant of Rabbi Meir of Premishlan: His paternal grandfather was Rabbi Mordechai of Mykolaiv, son-in-law of Rabbi Avraham Chaim of Mykolaiv, son-in-law of Rabbi Meir of Premishlan.

Dated Chebin, 1933.
