Impressive Letter from Rabbi Shmuel Salant and the Rishon L’Tzion; Jerusalem, 1887
Letter from Jerusalem’s chief rabbis, Rabbi Shmuel Salant and Rishon LeTzion Rabbi Raphael Meir Panigel, addressed to Rabbi Eliezer HaLevi, secretary of Sir Moses Montefiore.
The letter regards a donation that had been sent from Baltimore and discusses means of saving an American estate from falling into unscrupulous hands.
The letter was handwritten in beautiful scribal hand on a printed gilded letterhead of the General Beis HaVaad, and includes the signatures and seals of Rabbi Shmuel Salant and Rabbi Raphael Meir Panigel.
At the conclusion of the letter there is an appended handwritten note from Rabbi Yosef Rivlin, scribe of the mythological Kollel and active manager of all matters pertaining to the Kollel.
