Letter from Rabbi Abba Chiya Hirsch, Av Beis Din of Sered

Long letter of Torah novellae and moral teachings handwritten by Rabbi Abba Chiya Hirsch addressed to his son-in-law, Rabbi Ezriel Tauber, dated Sered, 1887.

Rabbi Abba Chiya Hirsch (1821 – 1893) was a disciple of the Chasam Sofer and served as the Av Beis Din of Sered. Beginning in 1878, he served as the Rosh Av Beis Din and Dayan of Sered and is buried there. Rabbi Avraham Shag wrote regarding him that he "delved into the depths of Halacha until the house became filled with light from his wondrous and pleasant words… " and I heard his praise and acclaim from the Maohr Hagolah(the Ksav Sofer), who already knew him during the time that he learned and stood between the walls of the great Beis Midrash of the Chasam Sofer…" (Shevet Sofer)
