Original Invitation to Wedding of the Admor Rabbi Yehoshua Rokeach,
Son of the Sar Shalom of Belze, Signed by the Admor Rabbi Yitzchak Meir of Zhinkov

Invitation from Rabbi Yitzchak Meir of Zhinkov to the wedding of his granddaughter Rivka Miriam,   with Rabbi Yehoshua Rokeach, son of the Sar Shalom of Belz.

It is told that this marriage was arranged without the groom’s side first seeing the bride. When Rebbetzin Malka asked her husband, the illustrious Sar Shalom of Belz how they could close a shidduch without first having seen the bride, the Sar Shalom responded: "There is a room in Heaven that is called ‘Maros Hatzovoss" where all of the proper Jewish girls are listed, and I saw there that she is proper and fitting for our son."

The opening and closing sentences of the letter were written in the holy handwriting of Rabbi Yitzchak Meir himself, and includes his lengthy signature as well.
Experts have concluded that this invitation was for the wedding which took place in 1839.

Rabbi Yehoshua Rokeach of Belz (1825 – 1894) was the second Admor of the Belz dynasty. Despite his being the youngest son of the holy Sar Shalom he was nevertheless selected to serve as his father’s successor. Rabbi Yehoshua faithfully led his followers for more than fifty years, during which time his Chassidic court flourished and blossomed into one of the largest Chassidic courts.
