Urgent Handwritten Letter from Rabbi Itzik’l of Pshevorsk Regarding an Aguna

"I now came to alert you regarding the young man… son-in-law of… who left his young wife an aguna. It is incumbent upon you to consult in every way, whether it is by publicizing letters, to find him and return him… because you were the matchmakers, it is your obligation, as much as possible, to bring him back quickly

… (signed) close to dawn at the fifth hour."

Urgent letter from Rabbi Itzikel Gewirtzman of Pshevorsk, handwritten and signed by him.The letter is replete with words of blessings, as customary of Rabbi Itzikel, while the main content regards the suffering of an aguna whose husband had disappeared.

On the back of the letter, the Admor invites the addressee to come stay by him the following Shabbos. He writes: "As per your custom, prepare badchanus for the simchas chassan v’kallah of the grandson of the Chasam Sofer, ztz"l."

Rabbi Itzikel of Pshevorsk (1882 – 1976) was a devout Chassid of the Admor of Shinowa. He settled in Pshevorsk, Poland where his name spread far and wide as a holy and pious leader. Following the Holocaust, he settled in Antwerp, where thousands flocked to him for blessings.
