Letter of Encouragement from the Admor Rabbi Chaim Avraham Duber HaCohen Levin, Known as the ‘Malach’
Long letter containing moral reproach and encouragement, handwritten and signed by the Admor- Rabbi Chaim Avraham Dov Ber HaCohen Levin, addressed to his son, Rabbi Refael Zalman.
In his letter, Rabbi Chaim Avraham Dov Ber directs his son to learn tractate beitza with Tosfos Yom Tov on the festival of Shavuot and advises him to use every moment of Shavuot night to learn Torah be’iyun.
Rabbi Chaim Avraham Dov Ber HaCohen Levin was known by all as the ‘Malach’ (angel). He was a disciple of the Admor Maharash of Lubavitch and established the Nesivos Olam Yeshiva and Beis Midrash in the United States, surrounding himself with students who dedicated their lives to their devoted religious adherence, to the point where they were referred to as ‘angels.’
Rabbi Chaim Avraham Dov Ber’s letters to his sons and followers were published anonymously in sefer Otzar Igros Kodesh.
