Manuscript: Likutei Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin, Barditchev; 1875

Rare and important manuscript recording holy Torah novellae as heard from Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin and his son, Rabbi Avraham Yaakov of Sadigura, written in Barditchev, 1875.

The manuscript, written in beautiful scribal handwriting is divided into two parts:

Part One: (Pages 1-28) Includes long passages heard from Rabbi Yisrael between the years 1824 – 1826. This took place during his tenure as Admor in Ruzhin, before his imprisonment.

Part Two: (Pages 29-53) Includes shorter novellae.

This relatively early manuscript was written only twenty-four years following the passing of the Admor Rabbi Yisrael.  The Admor Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin did not record his teachings in writing. These were only recorded later by his disciples. He once remarked that while everyone was writing and creating treatises, he was creating children. His novellae were first published in the sefer Irin Kadishin, a short compilation published in 1885 (see previous lot 152). Irin Kadishin was recently republished in an expanded edition by the present Kapischnitzer Admor, Rabbi Yitzchak Flintenstein, who included additional Torah novellae excerpted from other manuscripts. However, he does not include novellae from this present important manuscript.
