The present response is published in Responsa Avnei Tzeddek with the omission of many respectful titles used by Rabbi Menachem Mendel in his description of Rabbi Lichtenstein.

Rabbi Menachem Mendel Paneth (1817 – 1884) son of the Mareh Yechezkel. He studied in the yeshiva of the Chasam Sofer for five years and became one of his prized disciples. Following his marriage he relocated to Ohel where he formed a close relationship with the Yismach Moshe. He served as Av Beis Din of Deyzh and established a leading yeshiva there, home to many prominent Torah leaders. Rabbi Menachem Mendel led tens of thousands of followers and his Chassidic court was at the peek of its glory under his leadership. He authored Responsa Shaarei Tzedek on Ohr Hachaim and Yoreh Deyah, Responsa Avnei Tzedek on Even Haezer, Responsa Mishpat Tzedek on Choshen Mishpat and Maaglei Tzedek on Torah.
