Emotional Letter from
Rabbi Yehoshua Buksbaum, AB"D Galánta

Handwritten letter from Rabbi Yehoshua Buksbaum Av Beis Din of Galanta, addressed to his nephew.
 “…
Our faith in G-d’s kindness is strong, that He will heed our cries. From the time that I was by the graveside of the G-dly man, the Chasam Sofer zy”a, I also prayed during the Bris Milah along with the cries of the child, as it says in the holy sources that his cry rises to the heavens and can then beseech our hearts desires during this favorable time…”

Rabbi Yehoshua Buksbaum (1874 – 1944) was a prominent Hungarian leader prior to the Holocaust and a valiant fighter against the Enlightenment and any changes to authentic Judaism. He studied Torah under the Beer Shmuel of Unsdorf and Chassidus by Rabbi Yechezkel of Shinowa and the Darchei Teshuva. Rabbi Yehoshua stood at the helm of the large yeshiva in Galanta, one of the most prominent yeshivas in all of Hungary, teaching thousands of disciples. His letters and novellae were published in sefer Ohr Pnei Yehoshua.
