Handwritten letter from Rabbi Eliyahu Menachem Goitein, Av Beis Din of Hőgyész, addressed to Rabbi Uri Zev Salat, renowned publisher of Lemberg.
The letter regards the reprinting of sefer Kessef Nivchar, authored by his grandfather, Rabbi Baruch Bendit Goitein, Av Beis Din of Hőgyész.
Rabbi Eliyahu Menachem Goitein (1837 – 1902) was the son of Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Goitein, Av Beis Din of Hőgyész, son of Rabbi Baruch Bendit Goitein, Av Beis Din of Hőgyész, and author of Kessef Nivchar. Rabbi Eliyahu Menachem was a disciple of the Ksav Sofer and succeeded his father’s position as Av Beis Din beginning in 1860, serving in this capacity for upwards of forty years. His responsa and Torah novellae were published in the sefer Zichron Avos.
