At the end of his letter, Rabbi Chaim Yaakov inquires of the wellbeing of his friend, Rabbi Moshe Gross, Av Beis Din of Yakoni, and to his disciple, Rabbi David Greenwald, son of Rabbi Menachem Gershon Greenwald, Av Beis Din of Kerstor.
Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Fried was the son of Rabbi Aharon Tzvi Fried, the first Rabbi of Margaretten. He discoursed in Halacha with many of his generation’s leaders. Following his passing in 1916, his son Rabbi Aharon Moshe succeeded his position.
