The letter is written entirely in Rabbi Shmuel Binyamin’s handwriting and includes his signature.
Rabbi Shmuel Binyamin Sofer (1873 – 1943) was the son of Rabbi Zussman Sofer, Av Beis Din of Paksh. He was a disciple of the Shevet Sofer of Pressburg and succeeded his brother’s position as Rabbi of Derecske following his brother’s move to Paksh. He authored Divrei Sofrim al Klalei HaTalmud – Three Parts, and Responsa Divrei Sofrim.
