Handwritten Letter of Ordination by Rabbi Eliezer Zussman Sofer of Paksh, Author of Yalkut Eliezer

Letter of recommendation and a "Te’udas Chaver" (letter of ordination) handwritten by Rabbi Eliezer Zussman Sofer of Paksh, addressed to his disciple, Rabbi Mordechai Katz.
The certificate was issued in Paksh, 1892, and is written and signed by Rabbi Eliezer Zussman himself.
Rabbi Eliezer Zussman Sofer (1828 – 1902) was the Av Beis Din of Paksh and a prominent Hungarian scholar. He was the son of Rabbi Mordechai Ephraim Fishel Sofer and a disciple of the Chassam Sofer and Maharam Schick. He married the daughter of Rabbi Yoel Ungar, Av Beis Din of Paksh, author of Responsa Riv"a. He succeeded his father-in-law’s position in Paksh and served in this capacity until his passing. He authored many sefarim including Yalkut Eliezer, Sefer Hamikneh and others.
