Impressive letter handwritten by Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin himself, regarding the establishment of the great Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin.
This letter is dated Piotrków, 25th of Elul, 1927; Baba Kama 84. Due to various delays, the building of the yeshiva was only completed in 1930.
Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin (1887 – 1933) was a renowned Torah scholar, Av Beis Din of Piotrków and Lublin, and famed Rosh Yeshiva of the prestigious Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin. He became world renowned as the creator of the Daf HaYomi and was one of the founders of the Agudas Yisrael as well. He was known by all as a pillar of chessed and kindness and was a loyal delegate of the Polish parliament. Although he passed away childless, Rabbi Meir would say that he had two children: The Daf HaYomi and Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin.
