Letter from Rabbi Menachem Mendle Landau of Biala written in Brooklyn, 1929.
Rabbi Menachem Landau was the son of Rabbi Aharon Tzvi of Biala, son of Rabbi Dov Berish who was the patriarch of the Biala dynasty and son of Rabbi Avraham of Chechnov. A Chassid of Alexander he originally refused the position of Admor and capitulated only after much persuasion. In 1925 he immigrated to the United States where he attracted a large following of Polish Chassidim. He passed away in 1938 and his letters were published in sefer Shemesh U’Magen – Zichron Menachem.
