Long Halachic Response from Rabbi Aharon Walkin; Pinsk, 1936

Long, six page response from Rabbi Aharon Walkin regarding shochtim who had gathered in Czernowitz during the First World War where community leaders wanted to undermine their chazakah.
In his lengthy response, Rabbi Aharon Walkin protests the action of the community leaders and proclaims that they have no authority to repeal or annul the shochtim’s chazakah.
Dated the 13th of Shvat, 1936, the letter is addressed to Rabbi Yisrael Ginsburg, Av Beis Din of Zeidowa [Romania].
Rabbi Aharon Walkin (1865 – 1942) was a prominent Lithuanian rabbi prior to World War II. A prized disciple of the Netziv, he remained connected to him throughout his entire life. Following his marriage, he learned in Kollel Perushim of Kovno and served as Rabbi in Shad, Amtislau. During this time, he served a half-year prison sentence on charges of teaching Torah. Following his release, he fled to Poland where he became Rabbi of Pinsk-Karlin, holding this position until the rise of the Nazi regime. He perished in the Holocaust in 1942. He published Beis Aharon on Talmud and others .
