Handwritten letter from Rabbi Yona Rubin of Vishnitza, written for his father, Rabbi Naftali of Vishnitza, as it was hard for his father to write himself.
On the back side of the page there is an additional letter from his brother-in-law, Rabbi Yechezkel Shraga Halberstam of Dukla.
The letter is dated 1921.
Rabbi Yona Rubin of Vishnitza was the son of Rabbi Naftali Rubin, Av Beis Din of Vishnitza, grandson of Rabbi Asher Yeshaya of Ropshitz and son-in-law of Rabbi Yechezkel Shraga Halberstam of Shinowa. He was a son-in-law of his uncle, Rabbi Asher Rubin of Kratchin, grandson of the Rabbi of Ropshitz. He served as rabbi of Vishnitza alongside his father and succeeded his father after his passing. He perished in the Holocaust.
Rabbi Yechezkel Shraga Halberstam was the Av Beis Din of Dukla. He was the son and successor of Rabbi Menachem Mendle of Frysztak in Dukla and served as its last rabbi. He was murdered by the Nazis on Shushan Purim.
Rabbi Yaakov Leizer of Pshevorsk attested that Rabbi Yechezkel Shraga was the first to be named for his illustrious grandfather from Shinowa and was a tremendous tzaddik and avid zealot.
