Torah Novellae from Rabbi David HaLevi Horowitz, Av Beis Din of Stanislow
Torah novellae handwritten by Rabbi David HaLevi Horowitz, with remnants of the original envelope on which Rabbi David inscribed the addressee’s name in English.
The letter is beautifully written in large curved handwriting and bears a rare signature.
Rabbi David HaLevi Horowitz (1862-1934) was the son of Rabbi Eliezer HaLevi Horowitz, Av Beis Din of Rohatyn, and the grandson of Rabbi Meshulam Yissachar HaLevi Horowitz, author of Responsa Bar Levuy. Rabbi David was learned in all areas of Torah and renowned for his exceptional mind. He served as Av Beis Din in Kozlov beginning in 1888 and became Rabbi of Stanislow in 1910. He authored Divrei David Rishonim and Responsa Imrei David.
