Rare edition Shivchei HaBaal Shem Tov authored by Rabbi Dov Ber of Linitz, son-in-law of Rabbi Alexander Shochet who served as the Baal Shem Tov’s scribe. He stresses the trustworthiness of the stories in his preface, concluding, "

Published in Kapust, 1815, the printer writes that the Baal Shem Tov had revealed that "
one who deals with the praise of tzaddikim, it is as though he is dealing with the Ma’aseh Merkava."
