Letter from Rabbi Moshe Landsberg, Dayan of Posen, Addressed to Sir Moses Montefiore, Posen 1859
Handwritten letter from Rabbi Moshe Landsberg, Dayan of Posen and a leading disciple of Rabbi Akiva Eiger, addressed to Sir Moses Montefiore.
Rabbi Moshe Landsberg was the son of Rabbi Yosef Darshan of Posen, author of Yesod Yosef. In his youth, he studied under Rabbi Noach of Lissa, Av Beis Din of Lubrantz and author of Toldos Noach, and later in the yeshiva of Rabbi Akiva Eiger in Posen. He would later go on to become the Dayan there.
There is a well-known photo of Rabbi Akiva Eiger walking the streets of Posen alongside two rabbis. One of these rabbis is Rabbi Moshe.
