Kovetz Drashos: Manuscript from Rabbi Mordechai Michael Jaffe, Author of Maharam Jaffe

Unpublished manuscript of homilies for Shabbasos throughout the year, including Shabbos Hagadol and Shabbos Shuva, from Rabbi Mordechai Michael Jaffe.
Also included is a handwritten halachic response from Rabbi Mordechai Michael, as well as a letter from his son, Rabbi Menachem Mendle, dated 1866, regarding delivery of his father’s responsa.
The beginning of the manuscript is dated 1850.

Rabbi Mordechai Michael Jaffe (1803 – 1868) was born to a family of illustrious lineage and was an eighth generation descendant of the Maharal of Prague. He studied in Rabbi Akiva Eiger’s yeshiva for eight years, quickly becoming one of his prized disciples. In 1849, he was accepted into the historic
kloiz in Hamburg, where he studied and spread Torah for upwards of fifteen years.
His manuscripts were published in Beis Menachem, Responsa Maharam Yaffe, and Glosses in Maharach Ohr Zaruah Responsa. His glosses on
sefarim of the
acharonim were published in various other venues as well.
