Handwritten Letter from Rabbi Menashe Frankel of Shendishov – Vielipoli Dynasty, 1939
Letter of thanks handwritten and signed by Rabbi Menashe Frankel of Shendishov (Sedziszow). Addressed to the presidents of Ezras Torah, he thanks them for the "
four zehuvim that you sent me and literally revived me."
Rabbi Menashe Frankel of Shendishov was the son of Rabbi Yosef of Shendishov, (son-in-law of Rabbi Alter Zev Horowitz, Av Beis Din of Strizov), son of Rabbi Avraham of Vielipoli who was the son of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman of Vielipoli, patriarch of the Vielipoli dynasty, and a descendant of both the Ropshitz and Nikosburg families.
Rabbi Menashe was renowned for his extreme righteousness and piety. During the Holocaust, he was careful not to eat non-kosher food, and on Pesach subsisted on the sugar he had accumulated from his meager rations. He eventually succumbed in a Russian labor camp.
