First Edition Ayil Meshulash: Book on Algebra and Geometry Authored by the Vilna Gaon

Vilna Gaon’s book on mathematics; particularly laws of geometry and general laws of algebra.

The book was published based on the handwritten manuscript of the Vilna Gaon himself and includes explanations from Rabbi Shmuel, Av Beis Din of Luknik.

In his introduction to Peas Hashulchan, Rabbi Shmuel of Sklow writes, "
so said [the Vilna Gaon],
all the wisdoms are needed for our holy Torah and are included in it, and all should know it for their purpose… algebra and triangles and geometry etc."

There is an endorsement and long introduction titled "Derech HaPesach" authored by Rabbi Yaakov Moshe of Slonim, grandson of the Vilna Gaon.
It includes owner’s listing and signatures, as well as handwritten comments. There is also a signature from the righteous philanthropist, Rabbi Ephraim Fishel HaLevi of Kalish, on the title and final page of the
sefer.

This first edition was published in Vilna and Horadna, 1834, and was not brought to print again until 1965.
