Short halachic response from Rabbi Pinchas Segal Zimetbaum, Rosh Av Beis Din of Grosswardein, regarding rabbinical
hasagas gvul (economic competition) in the city of Prague.

Dated 1929, this letter was sent from Grosswardein and is addressed to Rabbi Shmuel HaCohen Hollander of Tchernowitz.

Rabbi Pinchas Segal Zimetbaum (1865 – 1944) was a renowned scholar in his time. Born in Tarnow, Galicia, he studied under the tutelage of Rabbi Yitzchak Schmelkes who was the Av Beis Din of Lvov and author of Beis Yitzchak. Already at the young age of thirty he was appointed Rosh Av Beis Din in the great city of Grosswardein. He served in this capacity for fifty years until the rise of the Nazi regime. The
sefer Responsa Divrei Pinchas was published from his writings and includes a detailed recount of his life. He is the father-in-law or Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak Weiss, Gaavad of Yerushalayim, author of Responsa Minchas Yitzchak.
