"MY ONLY SON" – Handwritten Letter from Rabbi Meir Yechiel HaLevi of Ostrovtza to His Son, Rabbi Yechezkel HaLevi.

A handwritten letter from Rabbi Meir Yechiel HaLevi Halshtok of Ostrovtza to his only son, Rabbi Yechezkel HaLevi of Ostrovtza, in which he requests that he assist with a marriage prospect for a girl.

Rabbi Meir Yechiel HaLevi Halshtok (1852 – 1927) was the Av Beis Din of Ostrovtza for forty years. He was a renowned scholar and well-versed in both the hidden and revealed aspects of Torah. For forty years he abstained from eating – eating only at night, and would regularly engage in ta'aniyos dibur (fasts from speech). Some of his Torah thoughts were published in the sefer Torah Ohr.
