Rare Letter by Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman – Recommendation for Orphaned Girl to be Accepted into Bais Yaakov

A handwritten letter from Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman to the Bais Yaakov of Krakow requesting a tuition break on behalf of an orphaned girl.

The letter is entirely handwritten by Rabbi Wasserman on an official postcard of Yeshivas Ohel Torah in Baranowicze.

Rabbi Elchonon Bunem Wasserman (1875 – 1941) was the Rosh Yeshivah of Ohel Torah in Baranowicze and one of the leading Torah leaders of prewar Lithuania. He fought alongside the Chofetz Chaim in preserving Orthodox Judaism and was an active member of Agudas Yisrael. His sefarim, Kovetz He'aros and Kovetz Shiurm, as well as his hashkafos (worldview) are a cornerstone of the yeshivah world today.
