Letter from Rabbi Aharon Rabinowitz, Av Beis Din of Lida, Regarding the Prodigy of Meitshet

A handwritten letter from Rabbi Aharon Rabinowitz, Rosh Yeshivah of Lida, regarding Rabbi Shlomo Polachek.

Rabbi Shlomo, the renowned illuy (prodigy) of Meitshet, had served as the Rosh Mesivta of Lida before the war. Rabbi Aharon writes in his letter that Rabbi Shlomo now returned from Russia, where he had escaped to during the war, and that his financial situation was very difficult.
Rabbi Aharon Rabinowitz was the son-in-law of Rabbi Yitzchak Yaakov Reines, Av Beis Din of Lida. He studied in the Volozhin Yeshivah and later succeeded his father-in-law's position. He dedicated his life to the establishment and success of the yeshivah and was called by the Chafetz Chaim, "Man of Truth." He was murdered along with the rest of the Jews of Lida during the Holocaust.
