Handwritten, Sharp Letter Against the Neologs from Rabbi Aharon David Deutsch, Author of Goren David, Pest 1870
A long letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Aharon David Deutsch, author of Goren David, urging the Karlsburg community to join Hungary's orthodox organization.
"… Hirschler and his friends stood once again to establish the laws of the congress that has angered Hashem, in order to lead us astray from His Torah and be rulers over the haters of Israel… and even though with gratitude to Hashem they will fall and be lost… nevertheless, we must do what is incumbent upon us…"
Prior to the opening of the Reform Congress in 1869, the greatest disciples of the Chassam Sofer, led by the Maharam Shick, Goren David and Machaneh Chaim, called upon all rabbinical and community leaders to disengage from official community organizations and establish an independent Orthodox organization instead.
Sent from Pest, 1870, this letter includes harsh statements against the Neolog movement.
