Letter from Rabbi Chana Halberstam Written When in Frysztak for the Yahrzeit of His Holy Father Rabbi Menachem Mendel
A rare undated letter completely handwritten and signed by Rabbi Chana Halberstam of Kolshitz.
The letter was sent from Galicia where Rabbi Menachem Mendel had come for the yahrzeit of his father, the holy Menachem Mendel of Frysztak.
In it he writes words of blessing that "Hashem should glorify him with honor and fulfill all his heart's desires for the good."
Rabbi Chana Halberstam of Kolshitz (1900 – 1942) was the son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Frysztak, nephew of the Divrei Chaim and son-in-law of the Shinover. He was appointed rabbi of Kolshitz and was one of the great leaders of Galicia prior to World War II. Renowned for his great holiness, Rabbi Yeshaya of Chebin testified that he had many traits similar to his father, the holy Divrei Chaim. He was killed on the second day of Chol Hamoed Sukkos,1942.
