Original Signature of the Machatzis Hashekel, Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi Kellin-Boskovice, and His Son

Sefer Yam Shel Shlomo on tractate Yevamos signed by Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi Kellin–Boskovice, author of Machatzis Hashekel.

Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi's signature is located on the right-hand corner of page [2] at the start of the sefer. Underneath, he is joined by his son, Rabbi Wolf Boskovice – author of Seder Mishnah, and Rabbi Wolf’s son, Rabbi Yosef Boskovice.
This sefer Yam Shel Shlomo on tractate Yevamos is a first edition published in Altona, 1739. It includes an endorsement by Rabbi Yaakov Emden where he proves the attribution of the sefer to its author.
There is also a signature from Rabbi Mendel Steiner of Pupa on the title page.
Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi Kellin (1724 – 1806) was the son of Rabbi Nosson Notah HaLevi and a descendant of Rabbi Nosson Notah Spira, author of Megaleh Amukos. He was a renowned and holy Talmudist with followers numbering in the thousands. He authored Machatzis Hashekel on Magen Avraham, Orach Chaim; a sefer which has opened the gates to understanding the Magen Avraham.
