Letter from Chassidic Leaders of Tveria 1828 with Important Early Chassidic Signatures

An important communally signed letter written by the leaders of the chassidic community in Tveria in the early 1800’s, amongst them disciples of the great sages of Chassidus, Rabbi M.M. of Vitebsk, The Kalisker and more – and signed by the following important chassidic leaders of Tveria:

Rabbi Yekusiel Yehuda Zalman Leib – disciple of Rabbi Zev Wolf of Tcharni-Ostroha and close friend of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Kosov.

Rabbi David Auerbach of Chmielnik – son of Rabbi Avraham David Auerbach and son-in-law of the Toldos. He was the predecessor of the dynasties of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach and Rachmastrivka.

Rabbi Chaim David Hakatan – Av Beis Din of Bichau and leader of the chassidic community. He was the student of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vitebsk and Rabbi Avraham of Kalisk.

Rabbi Shaul Halevi Harker – son of Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh and one of the spiritual giants of Tveria.

Rabbi Tudrus of Snetin – desciple of Rabbi Zev Wolf of Tcharni-Ostroha.

Rabbi Zev Wolf of Ostroha– one of the leaders of the chassidic community.

Rabbi David Aryeh Leib – one of the leaders of the chassidic community.

There are two additional letters attached as well, one of which is a translation of a letter from the leaders of the Prushim community in 1821. On it are copies of the community leaders' signatures, including those of Rabbi Nosson Nota of Sklow, Rabbi Yeshaya Bardaky and others.
