A letter of recommendation written and signed by Rabbi Aryeh Leib Horowitz.

The letter was written on behalf of his aunt, the sister-in-law of Rabbi Rephael Yom Tov Lipman – the famed Oneg Yom Tov. She wanted men to learn in memory of her husband and had no means to pay for the service.

Rabbi Aryeh Leib Horowitz, Av Beis Din of Brezin and author of the Chayei Aryeh, was the son of Rabbi Yisrael Salanter, founder of the mussar movement, and son-in-law of Rabbi Rephael Yom Tov Lipman of Bialystok, author of Sefer Oneg Yom Tov. He was a renown Torah giant and referred to by his father Reb Yisrael as "Bni Hatzaddik – my son the tzaddik”.
