Rare Handwritten Letter from the Malbim

A handwritten letter of recommendation from the Malbim to the rabbinic messenger of Kollel Perushim, Rabbi Yaakov Mordechai Pinsk, author of ”Dvar Hashmita”.

The rare letter was handwritten and signed in 1863 by the Malbim himself in which he attests to the credibility of Rabbi Pinsk based on letters of recommendation that Rabbi Pinsk had brought with him from rabbanim in Eretz Yisrael.

Rabbi Meir Leibush (1809 – 1879), also known as the Malbim, was the author of one of the greatest commentators on Tanach; a commentary celebrated by rabbinical leaders of all sects of Judaism. He was a brilliant Torah scholar who fought zealously against the maskilim and suffered persecution as a result.
