Handwritten and signed letter from Rabbi Meir Yechiel HaLevi of Ostrovtza regarding obtaining funds to assist the poor of Eretz Yisrael.

Rabbi Meir Yechiel HaLevi Halstock of Ostrovtza (1852-1928) was well-known for his tremendous love for the poor of Eretz Yisrael and worked hard obtaining charity for them. He was a brilliant scholar and well-versed in both the hidden and revealed Torah. He served as the rabbi of Ostrovtza for forty years, during which time he fasted throughout the day and ate only at night. Some of his Torah novellae are published in Ohr Torah.
