Personal Kabbalistic Siddur Used Extensively by the Admorim Imrei Yosef of Spinka and His son the Chakal Yitzchak. Autographed.
Siddur Nusach Ar”i, worn from use, with the signatures of the Admorim the Imrei Yosef Harav Yosef Meir Weiss of Spinka and his son the venerable Harav Yitzchak Isaac Weiss of Spinka, author of the Chakal Yitzchak, Hy”d.
The signature of the Imrei Yosef appears at the top of the title page:
Yosef Meir ben Moreinu Harav Shmuel Tzvi of Munkacz.
Beside it appears the signature of his son and successor:
Yitzchak Isaac ben Pere(l).
The Imrei Yosef’s stamp also appears on the former and latter pages. The body of the siddur includes several marginal notes, presumably in the Imrei Yosef’s handwriting, as well as lists of kvittelach.
Harav Yosef Meir of Spinka (1838 – 1929), author of the Imrei Yosef, was a leading Chassidic Rebbe, miracle worker and prominent disciple of Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Eichenstein of Ziditchov who ordained him as Rebbe. His impassioned prayers and breadth of knowledge in kabbalah were legendary, and Harav Chaim of Sanz often approached him with questions upon the Hidden Torah. His novellae were compiled into the Imrei Yosef on Torah & Festivals.
Harav Yitzchak Isaac Weiss of Spinka (1875-1944), author of the Chakal Yitzchak, was also a great kabbalist and miracle worker who, like his father, was renowned for his heartrending prayers.
“Anyone who ever observed him lay tefillin or heard his prayer during the week, or saw his service of G-d at his Shabbos table or heard his supplications and sobs during the prayer ‘And illuminate our eyes in Your Torah’ or his pleasant intonation when reciting ‘L’shem Yichud’ or the blessing of Sefiras Ha’Omer or any blessing upon a mitzvah automatically felt compelled to reflect upon repentance” (Preface to Shu”t Chakal Yitzchak).
Siddur Nusach Sephard. Lvov, 1778. Siddur with Kavanos Ha’Ar”i edited by the famed kabbalist Harav Asher Margalios of Brod. The first edition of Noam Elimelech was printed that same year in the printing press of Rabbi Shlomo Yarish Rappaport
Weekday Siddur only. [214] leaves. Page size: 17.5 cm. Title page missing and replaced by hand (only top third remains). This title page was presumably reconstructed by the Imrei Yosef zy”a. Old leather binding with restored spine. Very used with tears in corners.
